Zeeshan Arshad, son of Mahmood Arshad and an employee accused in the murder case of digital designer Hina Javed, has approached the Sessions Court seeking bail.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Naseer Ahmed admitted the bail application for hearing and issued notices to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines police station and the investigating officer on Friday.
The court has sought the complete case record and investigation report in response to the bail petition.
In his application, Zeeshan declared himself innocent and categorically denied any involvement in Javed’s murder.
The accused contended that the allegations leveled against him in the First Information Report (FIR) were completely false and that he had no connection with the incident.
The court’s decision on the bail application will follow consideration of the investigation record and the material presented by the prosecution and defense.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue proceedings against those accused in connection with Javed’s death.
Case Developments
The investigation into the alleged murder of digital designer Hina Javed has expanded as police examine the role of her husband, Asghar, his father and domestic worker Arshad. A preliminary post-mortem found a fractured neck bone and injuries to Hina’s ribs and hip. Samples for DNA testing were sent to the forensic laboratory, while police said the exact cause of death would be established after the final post-mortem and forensic reports.
On Aug. 25, a special investigation team took Asghar and Arshad to Lahore under tight security. Their samples were submitted to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for DNA and polygraph examinations.
Police also examined old YouTube lectures by Asghar, who had reportedly taught corporate communication at several universities. In one lecture, he discussed hypothetical circumstances in which a husband might shoot his wife, including marital disputes, infidelity and financial motives. Police have not indicated that the lecture establishes a connection to Hina’s death.
Meanwhile, Arshad reportedly gave three different accounts during the investigation. Initially, he allegedly claimed Hina was killed according to a plan involving Asghar. In a second statement, he reportedly took responsibility for the murder. During the formal investigation, however, he allegedly gave a third account, saying he had been called during an argument between Hina and her husband.
According to police sources, Arshad said Hina resisted and attempted to escape before both men allegedly caught her. He further claimed she was strangled during the struggle.
Investigators are examining multiple possible motives, including whether Arshad may have killed Hina after she allegedly discovered his theft of cash or other belongings. Police sources said he had previously been accused of stealing Hina’s purse, money and other items from the house.
Investigators are also examining whether one person could have moved Hina’s body to the bathroom and suspended it from the shower, a question that has become part of the wider probe.
On Sept. 1, the investigation team reportedly recovered an alleged murder weapon, a screwdriver, from Arshad during a 10-day inquiry. Police also recovered the nikahnamas of Asghar’s two marriages and the divorce deed of his first wife, Iram Zaib.
On Sept. 3, Civil Judge Adil Sarwar Sial sent Asghar and Arshad to Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The court directed investigators to complete the challan within two weeks and produce the suspects and challan on Sept. 16.
On Sept. 6, Arshad, who had been held on a 10-day physical remand, was also sent to judicial custody.
The special investigation team has since begun recording separate statements from police officers, personnel and other individuals as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding Hina Javed’s death.
