Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N)’s supremo Nawaz Sharif request for extension in bail has been rejected by the Punjab government, on grounds that the former prime minister has failed to provide the required medical reports.
Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, while addressing a press conference alongside Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid and Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said the government had repeatedly asked the PML-N leader to furnish his reports but he failed to do so.
“We have repeatedly asked Nawaz’s physician Dr Adnan Khan about the cardiac procedure. Nawaz Sharif has not been admitted to any hospital since he went to London for treatment.” Basharat said.
Leader of opposition in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif, termed the Punjab government’s decision ‘political revenge’. “The Punjab government’s decision is petty-mindedness and political revenge,” he said.
Previously, Lahore High Court (LHC) had removed Nawaz's name from the Exit Control List for four weeks, saying if his health doesn't improve then the time period can be extended.
