National Assembly (NA) Opposition Leader and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif offered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to use Sharif Group's hospitals as quarantine facilities to counter the fatal coronavirus pandemic.
PML-N president made the offer during a video conference with senior party leaders at his Model Town residence, following his return from London after four months, where he had been staying to look after his ailing brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Shahbaz Sharif said his family was ready to offer all health facilities of the Sharif group to serve as quarantine centres.
PML-N senior leadership after reviewing the country’s overall situation, formed a health task force to monitor the pandemic and frame recommendations. The health task force comprises former federal health minister Saira Afzal Tarar, Khwaja Salman Rafiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, and Ayesha Raza Farooq. It also constituted a parliamentary advisory group to take further decisions to stem spread of the deadly virus.
Opposition leader, while talking to the media at Islamabad airport, claimed that he had come to join hands with the nation to counter the challenge of coronavirus. He said the former premier had also urged the nation to remain united during these testing times.
