Karachi University has allegedly denied admission to a Pashtun student, Ulas Yar Kakar, in the postgraduate programme over the latter's affiliation with Pashtunkhwa Student Organisation, a student wing of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
In a video uploaded on Twitter, Kakar, a gold medalist, said he graduated from the university's MA Criminology programme with distinction, but he was being denied admission in spite of his good record.
According to Kakar, initially, he was denied a job as a visiting faculty at the university after he told the administration about his political views in the interview. However, afterward, he was repeatedly denied admission on account of being a political activist despite being an excellent student.
Kakar said he would go to the courts against such discrimination and vowed that he would continue to fight against such practices.
