Massive Fire Destroys Over 30 Shops In Karachi Furniture Market

A massive fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a furniture market in Karachi, destroying over 30 shops. The fire occurred near Kamran Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

According to Fire Officer Zafar, six fire trucks were deployed to the scene to control the blaze, which completely gutted the affected shops. The flames were so large that they could be seen from several kilometers away, and thick smoke filled the air. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

As soon as the fire was reported, emergency services were quick to respond. Six fire brigade vehicles were immediately sent to the site, where firefighters worked tirelessly to control the inferno. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and investigations are ongoing.

This fire follows another blaze that occurred just over a week ago on December 19, in a multi-storey building called Rimpa Plaza on MA Jinnah Road. That fire broke out on the first floor of the building, which also contains offices. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control with the help of snorkels and additional fire trucks. No casualties were reported in this incident either.

Rimpa Plaza had previously experienced a fire on December 3, also on the first floor, which spread to the upper floors. People inside the building were safely evacuated during that incident. In May of last year, the building’s seventh floor was also damaged by a fire in a warehouse.

After the December 3 fire, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called for inspections of high-rise buildings to ensure they meet safety standards and to prevent future fire hazards.
