According to a news report of Pakistan Today, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik has directed the officials of national flag carrier to revise the fares for stranded Pakistanis, and charge them only the operational costs of the flights. PIA officers and staffer were also advised to facilitate the stuck passengers in the best way possible.
The PIA spokesperson said that the commercial department of the national flag carrier has been particularly instructed that those responsible for overcharging the passengers and bringing bad name to the airline must be reprimanded with severest penalties.
Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan was informed by PIA CEO Air Marshal Malik that the airline was not only bringing back Pakistanis stranded abroad, but was also helping the foreign citizens in travelling back to their respective countries amid the deadly coronavirus lockdown.
The PIA chief further assured the federal minister that he would make sure that no stranded Pakistani is overcharged, even though the operating costs of the flights have been increased a lot due to the travel ban all over the world.
