Lahore police have claimed that a woman who was allegedly raped by a family friend has now agreed to marry him.
A man accused of raping his 'family friend' who had recently returned from the UK was arrested by the police on Thursday. As per the woman, she had returned home to attend her father's funeral where her stepmother reportedly forced her out of the house. She then had to move to the house of a friend of her father's, where the crime allegedly took place.
The police have now said that they discovered the woman had not come from the UK. They also revealed that several FIRs have been registered against her in Lahore.
Further, the police claimed that in the FIR she filed alleging rape, the woman gave a wrong name for herself, using her father's name instead of her own. She had also provided an incorrect contact number.
The accused had denied the charges of rape during interrogation.
