'Zulfi Bukhari Has Fled The Country To Escape Being Placed On ECL'
According to journalist Arif Hameed Bhatti, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari has reportedly left the country and does not intend to return. Zulfi Bukhari made this decision fearing that the new opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will reveal some information about him that may force the government to place his name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Further, Bhatti said that another federal minister has sent his family abroad. He stopped short of naming the minister. Arif Hameed Bhatti made these claims during a talk show on GNN TV last week.

Meanwhile, media reports quoted sources as saying that he went to UK upon birth of his child and will return in a week.

Panama Papers had stated in 2016 that Zulfi Bukhari and his two sisters were the owners of three offshore companies in the Virgin Islands named K-Factor Limited, Bradbury Resources Limited, Baytek Limited.

Moreover, Brig (r) Al Tirmizi, in a book, accused Bukhari's father and uncle of human trafficking to Libya. The smuggling ring was in the news after some Pakistanis died in Libya under mysterious circumstances in 1982. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had then registered a case against the accused including Zulfi Bukhari's father and uncle.

However, Zulfi Bukhari denies these allegations. Last year, he claimed that he had given his money trail to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
