Prime Minister Imran Khan’s former advisor for information Firdous Ashiq Awan has denied the media reports accusing her of taking 10% commission on government advertisements and hiring extra staff. She congratulated Lt Gen (R) Asim Bajwa for replacing her as Special Advisor to PM for Information and Senator Shibli Faraz for being appointed as Minister for Information.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader strongly denied the media reports regarding the reasons behind her removal. ARY News on Monday reported that Firdous Ashiq Awan was sacked for attempting to embezzle state funds, overreaching her powers and making political appointments. The private news channel quoted sources as saying that PM’s ex-aide tried to take 10% commission from government advertising budget, and made political appointments in Pakistan Television (PTV).

“Former special assistant had 2 guards and a total of 9 servants and 3 state cars with her without any official permission. She also inducted a sweeper and guard for personal usage from the PTV job quota. It is believed that when the report on Firdous’s abuse of power was submitted to the prime minister for review, she was instantly removed from office,” the report claimed.

The PTI leader accepted the prime minister’s decision of removing her and said that under the leadership of PM Imran, she would continue to serve the people of Pakistan.
