Sindh Asks FIA To Help Fight 'Fake News' About Coronavirus
The Sindh government has sough Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)'s assistance in tracing those who are spreading 'fake news' regarding Coronavirus cases in Karachi through social media, resulting in fear among the masses.
Sindh additional secretary has written to the interior secretary requesting the FIA's help in countering the disinformation regarding Coronavirus.

The Sindh government official wrote, “As you are aware that only five cases of the coronavirus have been identified in Pakistan, including two in Sindh. On the contrary, some individuals/groups are posting fake and unsubstantial news in social media about scores of positive coronavirus cases being identified at the Agha Khan University Hospital and the Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi. Both of the institutions have debunked such rumours.”

The development comes after a fake circular in the interior ministry's name emerged on social media. It announced that all government and private institutions would be closed. Therefore, the Sindh government has taken this step in order to find out the motive behind this disinformation campaign.
