Quetta’s Water & Sanitation Authority Issues Order To Confine Hazara Employees To ‘Their Areas’

An order issued by the Water and Sanitation Authority in Quetta is circulating on social media, listing a number of measures being taken to contain the Coronavirus outbreak – including restricting employees of a Hazara background to their homes. The order specifies that employees belonging to “the Hazara tribe”, as well as residents of Marriabad and Hazara Town, must be confined to “their areas”.

A number of social media users have condemned what is being seen as racist instructions in the middle of a serious pandemic.
