Petition Asking To Stop Women's March 2020 Admitted By Lahore High Court

A petition calling for Aurat March 2020 Judicial Activism Council Chairman Azhar Siddique calling for Aurat March 2020 to be stopped has been admitted by the Lahore High Court for hearing.

The Court has summoned the Additional Director Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Deputy Inspector General Operations on the 27th of February.

The petitioner accuses the Aurat March of being “against the very norms of Islam”. He also claims it is “anti-state” and raises the issue of protesters having carried “objectionable” placards at last year's Aurat March.

It is the petitioner's request that the Punjab Red Zone (Establishment And Security) Act 2018 be promulgated in Lahore and the rest of Punjab in an effort to prevent the March. Moreover, the petitioner also calls for invoking the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and Citizen Protection (Against Online Harm) Rules 2020 to “stop the promotion of anti-state activities such as Aurat March on social media”.
