DG ISPR Says Govt, Army On Same Page
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major Gen Asif Ghafoor has said that the government and the army were on the same page and that meetings between the prime minister and chief of army staff were necessary for the country’s progress.

In an interview with a private news channel, the DG ISPR stated that there was no difference of opinion on the issues of the state with the government.

Asif Ghafoor told the host that the army was supporting the democratically elected government and this was a must for the progress of the country.

Last Friday, the army chief had met with the prime minister to discuss the security situation in the country and on its borders.

The prime minister had decided to suspend his official and party engagements for the next two days and it came to light that he would be spending the weekend in Banigala.

The host told the DG ISPR about the speculation on social media that there was a lack of understanding between the prime minister and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and that there was a gap between their last two meetings.

Major General Asif Ghafoor rejected all such reports as ‘baseless gossip’ and stated that the prime minister and army chief were in regular touch with each other.

He added that meetings took place when required and every meeting was not covered in media.
