"Seeing a LOT of FaceApp selfies - let me give you some context - anytime you interact with a third-party app and provide personal information, whether private info, financial details or yes even photos, you can’t know what the third party intends to do with it...," Harjavec said in a twitter thread.

You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, fully-paid, transferable sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform and display your User Content and any name, username or likeness provided in connection with your User Content in all media formats and channels now known or later developed, without compensation to you. When you post or otherwise share User Content on or through our Services, you understand that your User Content and any associated information (such as your [username], location or profile photo) will be visible to the public.

FaceApp in Russia

Social media, on the other hand, has been debating the Application`s connection to Russia. The application has been developed by a Russian Company known as Wireless Labs.

Forbes in an article pertaining to FaceApp quotes PhoneArena's Peter Kostadinov. Kostadinov reminds the users about the consequences and says, "you might end up on a billboard somewhere in Moscow, but your face will most likely end up training some AI facial-recognition algorithm."

Whether or not the application in question is breaching user privacy is for the end-user to decide. Once you grant access to your digital identity, the data collected including the photos are uploaded to cloud and beyond that, users have no control over their data.
