DNA Report Reveals Farishta Was Not Raped: Police
Police on Thursday said that the DNA report in alleged rape and murder of 10-year-old Farishta revealed that she was not raped, but murdered.

According to police, an attempt was made to rape the girl and upon resistance, the suspect gravely wounded her with a knife. Farishta died due to excessive bleeding.

Police further said that it has shortlisted 3 suspects which will be presented which 24-36 hours.

Police last Wednesday arrested a close relative of a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in Islamabad.



According to police, the man arrested is a close relative of the 10-year-old Farista, whose body was found after being thrown in the forest.

Geo News reports that the police has refrained for sharing any further details but have broadened the scope of the investigation and are conducting raids to make arrests.

A case was registered against the station house officer (SHO) Shahzad Town and other officers. The family of the victim mentioned in the report that the girl had gone missing.

However, the SHO instead of looking for the girl, alleged, she had run away with someone.

Later, police said that the minor identified as Farishta was sexually assaulted and later murdered. Her body was disposed of in a nearby forest. The girl’s family belong to Mohmand Agency and the minor had gone missing on May 15.
