Nawaz Files Appeal In SC, Says ‘Unforgivable Damage’ Will Occur If Bail Not Extended
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime supremo Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday filed a bail extension plea in the Supreme Court and wrote that if the bail is not extended, ‘unforgivable’ damage may occur.

The petition asks for extension of Nawaz’s bail until the verdict of his review petition which requests permission for him to travel abroad for treatment. Nawaz’s bail period ends on May 7.

“Given the complicated and life-threatening nature of ischemic heart disease, carotid artery disease, lymphadenopathy, and renal artery stenosis, from which the petitioner [Nawaz Sharif] is admittedly suffering […] it is in the interest of justice that condition imposed for the petitioner’s release on bail merits review,” Nawaz mentions through his counsel Khawaja Harris.

The petition contended that it was ideal that Nawaz was treated by medical practitioners from the United Kingdom (UK), who were well aware of his case. All medical reports of the former prime minister were also submitted to the SC along with the application for bail extension.

Nawaz had been granted bail on medical grounds by the apex court on March 26 for six weeks on medical grounds. On April 25, Nawaz Sharif submitted a review petition in the Supreme Court seeking permanent bail.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa will hear the petition on Friday, reported The News.

Nawaz had been serving his jail term since December of 2018 in the Al Azizia corruption reference as per the verdict by the Supreme Court in 2017.
