NA Votes Against Bill Seeking Right Of Review Of SC Larger Bench Judgments
The National Assembly on Tuesday voted against a bill proposing that judgments made by larger benches of the Supreme Court be subjected to evaluation, Dawn News reports.

The bill was moved in the house by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam–Fazl (JUIF) MNA Aliya Kamran. The lawmaker said that the country’s people should be allowed the right of appealing against a verdict issued by an SC larger bench.

The PTI majority government opposed the bill. Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Farogh Naseem spoke against the notion of questioning a judgement that was issued by a 17-member full bench of the apex court.

"We do not want to make our courts political [and] we should let them perform their duties in the appropriate manner," he said. The bill was rejected in the lower house by a margin of 9 votes.
