Azam Khan, the former principal secretary of the then prime minister Imran Khan, has recorded his statement under oath in the cipher case, saying that Khan retained a copy of the cipher and later said it went missing.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that hiding a secret document is a violation of the Official Secrets Act; therefore, Azam Khan’s statement has proved that Imran Khan is a culprit.
While responding to a question about the Pakistan Army’s strikes in Iran that killed militants, Suharwardy said that Iran has admitted that those who were killed in the strike were not Iranian citizens. That’s why Iran has no right to give any response to it, he added.
Iran has also said that it will interrogate how the people who were killed in the strike managed to enter the country. Apparently this chapter has been closed, he added.
The analyst said that Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch has said that the heirs of those who were killed in strikes in Iran were present in the camp in Islamabad. He said the statement by Mahrang has raised several questions about the claims of missing persons. “If the heirs of those who were killed in the militant camps inside Iran were present in Islamabad, then how can they be termed missing persons as Mahrang admitted that they were in Iran?" he questioned.
Suharwardy said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in deep pain and grief because now they don’t have any reason to troll the army chief after the befitting response given by the Pakistan army to Iran. The entire nation is praising Army Chief General Asim Munir except the PTI, he added.
To another question regarding the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rally in Hafizabad, the analyst said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s speech was short because the party’s manifesto is yet to be launched. In the coming days, the nation will see Nawaz leading the party’s campaign across the country.
