Most Censorship Requests To Facebook Made From Pakistan
When it comes to content restrictions carried out by Facebook globally, the highest number of restriction requests originated from Pakistan between January and July 2019.

According to a report in Dawn, Facebook made 17,807 requests globally, with the highest number of requests, over 31 percent, coming from Pakistan.

The social media platform restricted 5,690 items within Pakistan from January to July 2019, as compared to 4,174 pieces from August to December 2018.

In the first half of 2019, the volume of content restrictions based in local law registered a decrease of 50 percent, from 35,972 to 17,807. Of the total volume, 58 percent of the restriction requests originated from Pakistan and Mexico.

The social media platform has said that the items to which access was restricted in Pakistan were reported by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority as having purportedly violated local laws related to blasphemy, anti-judiciary content, defamation and condemnation of the country’s independence.
