Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum reportedly planned to marry off his 11-year-old daughter Princess Jalila to Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. In February 2019, he allegedly entered an agreement, as revealed by the princess's mother Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein in a British court. According to a report by UK tabloid Daily Mail, the agreement took place as part of the marital feud between her and her husband Sheikh Al Maktoum. Princess Haya had left the UAE last year and later filed for a divorce in the UK. She said that the plan of forcible marriage was a main reason why she ran away.
The Dubai ruler has previously also been accused of abducting his own daughters in 2000.
The divorce settlement case heard by the court also discussed Princess Haya's alleged extra-marital relationship with one of her bodyguards, a former British soldier.
