KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has asked filmmaker Jamshed Mahmood (Jami) not to make any ‘defamatory’ statement against Dawn Chief Executive Officer Hameed Haroon whom he had accused of rape.
The court issued the orders while hearing Hameed Haroon’s plea seeking restraining order against Jami.
The single bench of the SHC headed by Justice Agha Faisal has summoned the complaint on Feb 12 and ordered him to refrain from making any defamatory statement against Haroon.
The media tycoon had submitted a defamation suit in the SHC, saying that the allegations leveled by Jami were baseless.
In January, filmmaker Jami had accused Hameed Haroon of raping him years ago. Haroon had denied the allegations saying that it was an attempt to silence his newspaper.
