Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Senator Raza Rabbani expressed his displeasure when Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem began to laugh while Rabbani was talking about a bill on women's inheritance rights during a Senate committee meeting on Thursday.
Chaired by Barrister Ali Zafar, a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice was took place earlier today.
The meeting discussed among other matters, The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Bill, 2020, Muslim Family Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and a bill on women's rights.
Naseem reportedly laughed as Rabbani spoke about women's inheritance rights, saying that he was displaying a 'non-serious attitude'. Upon seeing his anger, Naseem responded that he was not laughing at what Rabbani was discussing, but a joke that Senator Farooq Hamid Naek had made.
Rabbani however refused to believe him and said, "I have not whitened my hair in the sun and understand signs."
Chair Ali Zafar agreed with Rabbani that Naseem was talking during a serious discussion.
