Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lawmaker Mir Kalam Wazir narrowly escaped an assassination bid in North Waziristan.
According to police, the MPA came under attack in Mir Ali bazaar, where unidentified gunmen opened fire at him. The bullets damaged the vehicle of the lawmaker, but he along with his companions remained safe.
Following the attack, the KP lawmaker was escorted to Bannu by the police, whereas a search operation was launched to arrest the suspects.
In a tweet, MPA Wazir revealed that unknown people 'unsuccessfully targetted' him on Sunday in Waziristan near the fort of the Pakistan Army and a police station.
"Just in between Army's fort and police station attackers were waiting for us loaded with ammunition. Only by the will of God, we could escape the attack," he added.
"We're demanding for the lives of people and in return, they are serving us with that. We'll carry on our struggle along with us the same," the North Waziristan lawmaker added.
