The practice of enforced disappearances in Sindh, Balochistan and tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has been a longstanding issue that remains unresolved and underreported. Heirs of the missing persons that include activists, rights defenders and academics have been raising their voice for the release of their loves ones for many years.
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) recently highlighted the issue at its power show in Quetta last week. Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, while addressing the jalsa, demanded an end to enforced disappearances as she reassured the heirs of the missing persons standing next to her that the opposition would continue to support their cause.
