The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a Faisalabad man who was accused of blackmailed and harassing TikTok artist Jannat Mirza.
The suspect named Asfandyar doctored pictures and videos of Jannat Mirza and her sister Alishba Anjum and posted them online to defame them.
Two other men were arrested along with him in Lahore by the FIA. Mirza had registered a case against him at the Cyber Crime Division.
According to details, Asfandyar said he resorted to blackmail and character assassination of the TikTok actor after her sister rejected his marriage proposal. "As an act of revenge, I began to harass the sisters online," he was quoted as saying.
He has been handed over to the FIA on two-day physical remand.
Mirza says harassment has become common for female TikTok stars in Pakistan. With 7.5 million followers, she claims to be Pakistan’s most popular TikTok star.
