A district and sessions court in Islamabad has granted a two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Raoof Hasan to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in connection with his suspected participation in distributing anti-state propaganda.
The FIA prosecutor presented the PTI official before the court to seek physical remand of the suspect in order to seize social media gadgets allegedly used for anti-state propaganda.
A day earlier, Islamabad Police arrested Hasan from the party's Central Secretariat for leading a digital media cell and suspected involvement in anti-Pakistan propaganda.
"The PTI digital media cell has become a center of international disinformation, from where anti-Pakistan propaganda is run throughout the world," authorities stated.
Although it was first reported that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan was also detained, the ICT later confirmed that only Hasan was arrested during the raid on the PTI's Central Secretariat.
