Supreme Court (SC) has asked the government to release Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, the prime accused in the murder of American journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. The apex court rejected an appeal by the Sindh government against the Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict ordering his immediate release.
Meanwhile, the SC is also hearing separate petitions challenging the high court's earlier decision acquitting Sheikh.
In its short order, the three member bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam ordered the accused’s release. The decision was opposed by one of the judges on the bench.
