Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Health and Finance Taimoor Khan Jhagra on Wednesday said that 46 people were tested for coronavirus in Mardan – where Pakistan’s first coronavirus patient had died – and now their reports have confirmed that 39 patients have diagnosed with the fatal virus.
KP’s minister took to Twitter to inform people about the current status of coronavirus in the province. He said Mardan was locked down and turned into a quarantine, when Pakistan’s first coronavirus death was reported there. The provincial health minister, while giving updates about the coronavirus tests that were conducted in Mardan, said: “Sampling has shown that out of 46 people tested in the UC, 39 tests are positive. 4 samples are rejected. All tested are asymptomatic.”

Taimoor Khan Jhagra further said that he along with the provincial information minister would hold a press briefing in a while to inform people about the precautionary measures they need to take to prevent the pandemic.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s first coronavirus patient, Saadat Khan, who died of it had returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah. He had met 2,000 people in a close gathering on his day of arrival in Pakistan. After his death, the whole UC Manga in Mardan was converted into a quarantine.
