The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to attend the dinner being hosted by opposition leader in the National Assembly and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Monday 24 May. A decision was taken in this regard after PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari returned to Karachi from his trip abroad today (Sunday 23 May).
This development is sure to create new headaches for the PTI, which is already scrambling to placate its members who have formed the Tareen Group, apart from being lambasted over allegedly inflating economic growth numbers.
Sources say that PPP leaders were in favor of attending the dinner reception, as it would provide the perfect opportunity for the opposition to unite on key issues such as the upcoming budget session and the revival of PDM. JUI-F chief and PDM president Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman is also invited to the dinner, as are ANP leaders, which is scheduled for 7:30pm in Islamabad tomorrow.
