Bacha Khan University Makes Black Abaya Mandatory For Female Students
Presiding over the ninth Academic Council meeting held at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmed issued directions making it mandatory for female students to wear a black abaya with white or black scarf. The students are only allowed to wear the black and ‘loose’ abaya with either a white or black shalwar kameez. Footwear has also been restricted to black smooth slippers.

According to a report in Peshawar's Shahbaz Daily, the vice-chancellor ordered a ban on all types of jeans, T-shirts, trousers, short shirts, make-up, jewellery, fancy purses, thin clothing and heels at the university.

For male students the new dress code includes plain shirts with blue or black dress pants, black or brown shoes, clean winter shalwar kameez or dark blue vest or coat, sweater, and plain jacket. Students wearing a colorful muffler will not be allowed in the university.

The new order issued also calls for careful arrangements to be made for the students to study and learn the Holy Quran with detailed translation within the university.
