Cricketer Fakhar Zaman has been honoured with the rank of honorary lieutenant in the Pakistan Navy. He was conferred with the rank by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi on Monday. Zaman had been part of the Pakistan Navy before joining cricket.
A statement issued by the Pakistan Navy stated that a special epaulette award ceremony was held at the Naval headquarters where Zaman was honoured for his achievements in the cricket arena and association with the navy.
Zaman made his cricket debut in 2012 while he was also serving in the navy. He participated in the International Defence Cricket Challenge Cup 2012 held in Australia and was declared best player of the tournament. His achievements in the cricketing world include the award of Sanad-e-Tahseen given to him by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). He also has a match-winning century against India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, in which he was declared the Man of the Match. He is also the fastest player to score 1,000 runs in just 18 one-day internationals in the year 2018.
