Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi has cancelled a talk by renowned economist Atif Mian without explanation. The lecture titled ‘Why has economic growth fallen behind in Pakistan?’ was scheduled to be held on November 5, 2020.

In a tweet from its official Twitter account, IBA Karachi announced the cancellation of the talk but did not clarify as to what led to it. “Inconvenience is highly regretted,” the tweet added.

Social media users have said that the cancellation may be linked to right wingers’ reservations with Atif Mian on the grounds of his Ahmadi faith.
