A grenade attack outside the Bahria Icon Tower in Karachi's Clifton area on Wednesday wounded a security guard.
Dawn quoted South SSP Zubair Nazeer Shaikh as saying that two men on a motorcycle threw a hand grenade at Icon Tower near Bin Qasim Park in Clifton. 35-year-old Muneer Nazeer, a security guard, sustained injuries in the attack. The bomb disposal squad to stated that it was a hand grenade, not a cracker as was initially thought.
Counter-Terrorism Department head Omar Shahid Hamid, meanwhile, says that the incident may have something to do with Bahria Town's "issues related to the Malir area". He added that a drive against Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) in Malir district was underway and the attack was "most likely that the attack may be linked to it".
