Foreign Office Rejects Reports About Saudi Arabia Voting Against Pakistan In FATF Assessment
Foreign Office has denied reports that Saudi Arabia voted against Pakistan during the assessment of Pakistan's Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plan. FO spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri on Thursday termed "the story circulating on a segment of the media as false and baseless", according to a press release.

"Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy strong fraternal ties and the two countries have always cooperated with each other on all matters of bilateral, regional and international importance," the statement read.

FATF is currently meeting virtually and whether or not Pakistan should be excluded from its ‘grey list’ will also be discussed in the meeting. The FATF meeting will review Islamabad’s performance to follow global commitments and standards on combating money laundering and terror financing (ML&TF).

The FATF plenary was earlier scheduled to be held in June but it had to be postponed in the wake of Covid pandemic. As a result, Pakistan had gotten additional four months to improve its performance and meet the requirements.
