The former PM also said that it was necessary to protect democracy. He said that he agreed with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position that the APC needs to be meaningful otherwise the people would be disappointed.
Nawaz said that dishonouring the vote leads to failure of the democratic system which is rendered meaningless. “Public’s mandate is stolen and they are betrayed when it is decided before the polls that he would win or lose,” he said.

He added that this ‘parallel government illness’ is the root cause of all of Pakistan’s problems.

Nawaz Sharif said that a ‘martial law’ had been enforced by the government and criminals are free to make amendments to the constitution.
