Pakistan Witnesses Increase In Donkey Livestock: Survey Report
ISLAMABAD: Unlike other sectors of the economy, the livestock sector, particularly donkey stock, witnessed some significant progress during the current fiscal year, according to the economic survey report issued on Thursday.

The country holds over 5.5 million stocks of donkeys with 100,000 increase during the current fiscal year.

Pakistan’s livestock sector witnessed an increase in the number of other animals like buffalos, goats, sheep, and horses.

However, no change is recorded in the livestock of camels.

With the addition of 1.2 million buffalos in the livestock, the total number of buffalos stock in the country is over 40 million while the number of goats witnessed a 300,000 increase in stock totaling the number to over 70 million.

No growth was witnessed in the number of camels while the number of horses and mules remained the same.

Earlier this year in January, Pakistan became the 'the third largest country in donkey population'. The second, datelined Beijing, conveys the equally momentous news that 'China’s demand for donkey skins used to make a traditional medicine (a beauty product of sorts) could wipe out more than half the world’s donkey population' and the country had shown interest in the import exchange of donkeys from Pakistan.
