Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s health held more importance than politics and that he had no grudge against him.

According to a report in Express Tribune, the prime minister was addressing attendees of a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf core committee on Friday. He stated that his government had facilitated Nawaz Sharif on humanitarian basis and also came with a legal option to get his name off the Exit Control List.

On Thursday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif had warned that he would hold Imran Khan responsible for anything that happened to his brother.

During the meeting on Friday, Imran Khan said that his government had no issues if the Sharif family wanted to approach the court instead of providing the indemnity bond. Imran Khan regretted that the Sharif family was playing politics on Nawaz Sharif’s health.

On Wednesday, the interior ministry had given Nawaz Sharif ‘one-time’ permission to travel abroad for four weeks given that he submits an indemnity bond of Rs7 billion. The PML-N challenged the decision in the Lahore High Court on Friday.

PM Imran observed that the former PM’s health was deteriorating, and his family’s first priority should be to go abroad for his treatment instead of fighting over the indemnity bond issue.
