8-Year-Old Girl Student In Charsadda Sexually Abused By Watchman

An 8-year-old student of the Government Girls Primary School in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was sexually abused by the watchman of her school.

The employee, 35-year-old Bilal Asghar, took the minor girl to his house where he abused her. The incident occurred in Khanmai area of Charsadda.

Charsadda District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ullah Khan stated that Bilal Asghar was a watchman at the school and had been arrested after he abused the eight-year-old.

The girl, a student of second grade, told her parents that she was threated harshly by a man in the school. Police stated that the parents of the victim girl came to the police station and lodged a case against the accused in Khanmai Police Station.



The DPO further said that the girl identified the man who abused her. Initial medical report of District Headquarters Hospital Charsadda confirmed sexual abuse, and the girl is currently under treatment at the hospital.

Police said that a case under Section 376 had been filed against the accused. Irfan Ullah Khan added that the accused was arrested within 12 hours.

During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime and said that there was no one at his house and he took the girl to his house, where he sexually abused her and then directed her to go home.

Police is currently interrogating the suspect to gauge whether this was his first assault or if he had done this to other students.



There has been a rapid increase in sexual abuse cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently. A week ago, a schoolteacher murdered his student after sexually abusing him. In an earlier incident, a girl student had been abused and killed in Haripur. In another case in Mardan, police termed the murder of a girl as having occurred after sexual harassment.

Reports have stated that 729 girls and 575 boys became victims of sexual abuse in Pakistan in the first six months of 2019. Similarly, 378 children were kidnapped while 12 boys and four girls were killed after sexual abuse.
