US Lauds PM Khan’s Warning To Countrymen Against Joining Kashmir Jihad
WASHINGTON: The United States (US) lauded Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s recent statement warning Pakistanis not to cross the Line of Control (LoC) with the intention of joining the indigenous resistance movement in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells shared a tweet applauding PM Khan’s “Unambiguous & important statement”.

She said that Pakistan’s “sustained commitment to counter all terrorist groups is critical to regional stability.”

The US State Department issued the comments after Imran Khan warned his fellow countrymen against making any emotional attempt to cross the LoC from Pakistan and said that such a move would affect the struggle of the people in IoK.

Earlier, the PM had said that any bid to “wage jihad in Kashmir” would be an act of extreme hostility towards the Kashmiris. “Anyone who believes that crossing the border to join the Kashmiris in their freedom struggle is a big enemy of them and Pakistan,” he had added.

He gave this statement while talking to media persons after inaugurating the Integrated Transit Trade System at Torkham on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The PM said on the occasion that Indian authorities were waiting for “an excuse” to initiate a fresh crackdown in the region.

“India wants an excuse… If someone from Pakistan goes to India to fight… it will provide them an excuse for torture and barbarism,” he said.

He urged people from his country not to give India any excuse to help them cover its human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. “This can make life more difficult for the Kashmiris who have been suffering at the hands of 900,000 violent and oppressive Indian troops,” the PM added.
