Shahbaz Gill Is Not Punjab CM’s Spokesperson Anymore
LAHORE: Dr Shahbaz Gill on Friday resigned from his post of spokesperson for Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar in an unexpected turn of events.

“I hereby resign from the post of official spokesperson to CM Punjab,” Gill wrote in a note of resignation addressed to Buzdar.

The news follows a tweet shared by Gill on Friday afternoon in which he said that he had taken an “important decision” in the morning. “Will share with you soon,” read the tweet.

The name of the person who would replace Gill has not been announced by the provincial government yet.

Among other changes made in the Punjab cabinet on Friday (today), Awn Chaudhary was removed as advisor to Punjab CM.

A notification issued by the CM office read, "The Chief Minister is pleased to appoint Mr Asif Mehmood as Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab in place of Mr Muhammad Awn Chaudhry with immediate effect".

Mehmood shall act as Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on "Affairs related to Punjab Horticulture Authorities (PHAs) and Tourism", it added.

Meanwhile, Buzdar sent a letter to the Punjab acting governor advising him to appoint member of provincial assembly (MPA) Malik Asad Ali as a provincial minister.

“In pursuance of Article 132 (1), read with Article 105 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan, the Governor of Punjab is hereby advised to appoint Malik Asad Ali, member of provincial assembly of Punjab (PP-168) [...] as provincial minister,” the letter read.
