Even If He Is Granted Bail, Nawaz Can’t Go Abroad: CJP
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif cannot go abroad for treatment even if he is granted bail by the court.
A three-judge bench of the apex court conducted hearing of former PM Nawaz Sharif’s petition to grant bail on medical grounds in Al-Azizia case.
In his remarks, Asif Saeed Khosa said that Nawaz Sharif cannot go abroad even if he is granted bail. “Have you ever witnessed an example where a person in under trial and is allowed to go abroad?.”
Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Harris said that the former PM complained about pain in his chest and shoulder on January 15. On 17, he added, a medical board consisting of PTI doctors examined Nawaz and after that he was examined 4 more times by doctors from Jinnah and Services Hospital.
The apex court questioned the counsel about Nawaz’s medical history prior to January 15. CJP Khosa asked for previous medical reports of the ex-PM. The apex court will compare Nawaz’s medical history to his condition in jail to make a decision over the petition.
The hearing was adjourned till next week.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that the Sharif family has insisted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to allow them to take ailing Nawaz Sharif for treatment in London.
Addressing the media in Lahore, Fawad said that the PTI government called a meeting over Nawaz’s condition where they were told that the ex-PM’s health has deteriorated and he was having breathing issues.
He said the Punjab government has been ordered to provide the best medical facilities to Nawaz.
