Karachi has been ranked as the ninth most-polluted city in terms of air quality on Monday after a suspected gas leakage in the Keamari area of the city claimed lives of 5 people and hospitalised dozen others.
The air quality monitoring website, AirVisual, termed Karachi's air quality levels as unhealthy for sensitive groups. On basis of the data collected from the US Department of State and its own community contributor, it tracks the air quality of the cities across the world.
Sunday’s gas leakage is possibly the reason for this sharp decrease in Karachi's air quality after at least five people, including two women, died and others, who were hospitalised, complained of respiratory problems.
