‘Khan Done With Shah Mehmood’: 5 Takeaways From Suhail Warraich’s Column
The following are takeaways from column of senior journalist Suhail Warraich who makes some strong claims regarding the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s internal politics.

Rift Between Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen

Warraich writes that there is a 'decisive war' going on between Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and senior leader Jahangir Tareen. According to Warraich, Shah Mehmood Qureshi wants to be the Punjab Chief Minister but Imran Khan ‘does not trust him anymore’.

He also says that several people close to Imran are telling him that Qureshi wants to become the PM. On the other hand, Jahangir Tareen also feels that Qureshi was involved in his disqualification and lobbied in London.

Sacrificing Asad Umar

Warraich also claims that Finance Minister Asad Umar could be removed from his post as his ongoing tenure has cost Pakistan Rs500billion. PTI plans to hand the Petroleum Ministry to Umar after removing him from the finance one.

In-House Changes

Apart from Asad Umar, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan will be removed from their posts, claims Suhail Warraich. He said that in-houses changes are expected by the end of this year.

No Relief In IMF Deal

Warraich said that although Imran Khan and his men have received International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s approval for loan, it still would not provide relief for the general public. He said the economic crisis has ‘terribly affected’ businesses and if taxes are imposed on the business class as per the new budget, strikes are expected.

He said that the country would not be able to function with poor governance and economy.

Fawad Chaudhry’s Fortunes

Warraich also said that Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry has succeeding in ousting Pakistan Television (PTV) MD Arshad Khan, who was being backed by PTI leader Naeem-ul-Haq.

He also said that Imran Khan has asked Naeem-ul-Haq to not indulge in matters of the information ministry.
