The initial reports quoting sources within Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Zardari had been invited to US President-elect Jo Biden's inauguration have now been denied by the party spokesman. No invitation has been extended to the PPP leaders.
PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar told BBC Urdu that the former president and the PPP chairman “have not been invited to the inauguration and are not attending the ceremony”.
News of alleged invitations made headlines all over the world. In fact, some PPP leaders had themselves tweeted the news which gave rise to speculation.

Congress supporters in India claimed that former prime minister Manmohan Singh was invited and would be attending. However, it turned out that the news was incorrect as Singh himself denied the news.
