Bilawal Notices Journalist Being Told To Censor The Word ‘Establishment’ During Media Talk

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, while addressing a press conference, overheard a journalist being told on a phone call to censor the word 'establishment' used by the PPP chief during the media talk.

The irony of the censorship was not lost on the PPP leader. He commented that ' we are going to celebrate our independence day on Aug 14 but you can what sort of freedom we enjoy'.

Media houses have complained of an increse in censorship and repression after the incumbent government of Prime Minister Imran Khan came to power two years ago. There has been a ban on usage of certain words, both in media and parliament. In June, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri banned the use of the word ‘selected’ to describe Prime Minister Imran Khan in a ruling.
