On Monday, SC bench headed by CJP Gulzar ordered the federal government to remove Dr Zafar Mirza as Special Assistant to the PM on Health Affairs. Justice Gulzar issued the orders while hearing his first suo motu case against the government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis. He said that the federal cabinet was not doing anything to fight the coronavirus pandemic. He added that PM’s adviser on health has demonstrated that he is not eligible to handle the ongoing situation.
The top judge said that the ‘corrupt people’ had been made advisor to PM Imran. “Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet has become ineffective. I am sorry to say this but the premier has distanced himself [from the coronavirus crisis],” CJP Gulzar said, to which the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan replied that ‘for the very first time’ Pakistan was being ruled by ‘honest premier’.
