Rapper and designer Kanye West has surprised people by revealing that he may legally change his name to ‘Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West’.
In an appearance at the 2019 Fast Company Innovation Festival, the rapper suggested that he may change his name for a little bit.
While talking to Fast Company senior writer Mark Wilson, West said, “When people say it's crass to call yourself a billionaire, I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y'all understand exactly what it is.”
In response, Wilson, who was hosting the panel, joked that the name would be hard to type.
Kanye replied, “It will be on the license plate.”
It is hard to tell if the artist was joking. Many of his statements have attracted a great deal of attention in the past.
Last year, he had created a controversy when he stated that slavery (black slavery in America) was a choice. While talking to entertainment media outlet TMZ, West had stated, "When you hear about slavery for 400 years...For 400 years? That sounds like a choice."
In 2016, he had made the rather laughable demand for $1 billion from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, saying that he was $53 million in debt.
