American blogger Cynthia D. Ritchie has sent Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader and former prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani a legal notice worth Rs120million for ‘false allegations’.
On Thursday, Cynthia had her lawyer, Advocate Nasir Azeem Khan extend a legal notice in which she reiterated that Gillani had harassed her "in connivance" with ex-interior minister Rehman Malik 2011. The legal notice further included complaints of PPP media cell for harassing the US blogger in online spaces.
She has claimed that Gillani will have to apologise for bad-mouthing her locally and internationally. If he fails to do so, a case will be filed against the former PM by Cynthia's counsel.
Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had confirmed that a case that will be registered against Ritchie in a complaint filed by a local PPP leader. The court has also demanded an answer from the US blogger for the bad-mouthing of slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
Her tweet about the late PM had triggered a cold war between the members of PPP and the ardent followers because of their sentiments being hurt.
Later, Ritchie made a statement accusing Rehman Malik of having raped her and Yousuf Raza Gillani of manhandling her.
She also wrote a letter to the FIA explaining her position, earlier, which said, “I am a freelancer and pay taxes to FBR and report my income to IRS in the USA. I am not on the government payroll. I take projects (such as KP Dept of Archaeology/Engro/and some cleared NGOs) as matters of personal and professional interest,” adding that she has been living and working peacefully in Pakistan for the past 10+ years.
