Pakistan’s Youngest Taekwondo Star Has Her Sights Set On Olympics
Pakistan’s Taekwondo prospect Ayesha Ayaz says she wants to compete in the Olympics and make her country proud.

The 8-year-old from Swat, who recently won a bronze medal in 27kg category during the 7th Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championships in the United Arab Emirates, says she wants to compete in the Olympics in the near future.

According to Dawn, an event in her honour was organized in Kanju to celebrate her success. During the event, which was attended by family members, relatives, the district sports officer and other taekwondo athletes, Ayesha spoke about her plans and thanked everyone for the support.

“My next target is Olympic games for which I am working hard and practicing daily under my father’s supervision. I also expect the government will assist me in preparing for the mega event,” she was quoted as saying by Dawn

She also dedicated her prize to Prime Minister Imran Khan. A cake was also cut to celebrate her big one at the international stage.

Ayesha’s father Ayaz Naik, who himself was a Taekwondo athlete and still a practitioner, said that winning the competition was not an easy job and that only means Ayesha has tremendous talent. With the right amount of support, she can go places.

Earlier this month, Pakistan’s martial artists, including little Ayesha, won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in UAE.

Athletes Sinan Ashfaq and Muhammad Danish won Gold medals, Taimur Saeed won Silver medal, while 8-year old Ayesha Ayaz and ArifUllah won Bronze medals during the championship.
