Federal Minister for Science and Technology has stated that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee should apologise for making a wrong announcement about the sighting of the moon for the Islamic month of Safar.
Criticising the views of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Fawad Chaudhry said that if one considered using binoculars or any other form of technology as a tool to sight the moon as unIslamic, then one should not even use glasses.

He further stated that if moon sighting was to be done with the naked eye, then the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee should consist of youngsters instead of 80-year-olds.
The feud had between the science minister and the committee had begun last week when the latter had announced that Safar’s moon had not been sighted on 29th September, and hence the month would begin from 1st October.
On the other hand, the science ministry had announced the commencement of the month of Safar on 30th September, based on the website it had created for the purpose, pakmoonsighting.pk.
In a video shared on social media on Sunday from his Twitter account, the federal minister could be seen saying that there were a lot of people without knowledge and wisdom who did not want to progress.
